Dhanteras and it's significance

As we all know Dhanteras is one of the major Hindu festival associated with wealth and prosperity. Which is also known as Dhantrayodashi, devotees offer their prayers and respects to Lord Kubera and Goddess Lakshmi. 

This year, Dhanteras will be celebrated on Friday, November 13, 2020. It also, marks the first day of Diwali celebrations.
The auspicious day, which is observed two days before Diwali, also marks the beginning of the celebrations for the ‘Festival of Lights’. It is believed that on Dhanteras, Goddess Lakshmi resides at home, which is why there is an unsaid practice to clean up the household and design imprints of little feet on the floor with a mixture of rice and flour. 

On Dhanteras, there is another long-standing practice of buying gold. Long queues outside jewellery stores are noticed as several discounts are doled out. Buying gold, silver or even utensils are considered symbolic and, is believed, will protect people against evil and bring luck and prosperity to family members.


There is an interesting history associated with the festival — according to mythology, a priest had once asked a poor Brahmin to offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi. After doing so, he was rewarded with wealth and prosperity. Therefore, people pray to Goddess Lakshmi in the hope of receiving wealth, prosperity and also happiness for their family and loved ones. This, however, is one of the many stories behind celebrating Dhanteras, which is celebrated with great aplomb and fervour.

But the reality is we cannot get benifits from this practice because we are doing all these activities against our holy scriptures.

How Kabir Saheb Came On Earth?

Lord Kabir doesn't take birth from a mother's womb. Lord Kabir's body is not made up of five elements and does not have any bones or flesh. His body is composed of a "single element of divine light", which is indestructible, which is the reason why, Kabir Prakat Diwas is celebrated for lord Kabir and not Jayanti. The day when Lord Kabir appeared on earth, is called the Prakat Diwas of Lord Kabir, not a birth anniversary (jayanti)! Gautama Buddha was a virtuous soul who came from Vishnu Loka. Once for his salvation he started doing self-will-meditation (hatha yoga) under a banyan tree in Bihar. He also stopped eating. After some days when his body became weaker & was about to die, an old woman came and fed him some kheer.
